Sometimes when we pray, I think we are doubtful of our request and therefore do not receive because we have not a Believing When Seeking. It could be that we are not sure that we deserve God to answer our prayers or that we are afraid we have been too bad and that He might punish us. Whatever the reason, we get a little bit concerned that we are not asking for the right things.
Scriptures that tell us the true way to seek Him and when God Answers Prayers.....
"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." --Psalms 34: 14
"The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are ope unto their cry." --Psalms 34: 15
"The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate." -- Psalms 34: 17- 22.
"But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." -- Psalms 37: 11
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." -- Psalms 37: 23-25
What else is there to say, might I ask? There are numerous other scriptures in which the Lord's message is very plain. In Psalms David is giving his inspirations as to how to seek God and giving instructions of a holy life and how we must live righteously before the Lord and how we must have a Believing When Seeking spirit.
There is another scripture which says: "Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." " Commit they way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." -- Psalms 37: 4 -5
He shall bring it to pass. Let's say it again...."He shall bring it to pass." It does not say, He might, it states He will. But there is also a condition in which these scriptures are given. This one says to "Delight" thyself also in the Lord. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust in him. Sometimes it is that we have drifted farther from the Lord than we might have thought; we might have not delighted ourselves in the Lord but in our earthly things that push us in life. We sometimes struggle with life things and stay so busy that we put our life things before Christ. That is why we get to a place that we absolutely have to have something from the Father and we are afraid He will not hear us.
It is not an uncommon things to get bogged down with life. Life isn't easy at its best but if we are to get answers to our prayers; we must have a Believing When We Seek him. If our faith is weak and we feel we do not deserve what we are asking for; then we should search our lives and get it straightened out and then go to Him in prayer with a Believing When Seeking.
More Scriptures that tell us how we need to live:
"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from they presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with they free spirit.: -- Psalms 51: 10- 12.
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
-- Psalms 91: 1
It is easy sometimes to walk a far off from the Lord; not meaning to. But we must keep our focus for in keeping our mind upon the things that will help us spiritually, we know that when we seek Him; we will not be afraid. If we are afraid to go to God; then we should seek deliverance from the worldly things which is causing us to be afraid.
"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." --
Psalms 55: 7
We have every promise that has been written and there are numerous ones in the Bible. The Lord loves us, He knows that we are sometimes weak humans, but if we forsake our wicked ways and are diligently seeking His face daily; He will harken unto our cry. Still, when we go to Him, we must be Believing When Seeking.
There are times when we have been hurt with something that has taken our life away almost; we can hardly pray, and yes our faith and believing is weak and we are broken hearted. But, these are the times that in His tender mercy He looks within our souls and reaches down His loving hand of mercy and gathers us up into His arms of love and gives us life again.
Some of the best answers from God are when we least expect it. He sends us presents unexpected. Sometimes, He looks beyond our faults and sees our needs. He sometimes overlooks our pettiness and gives us something to encourage us. He has even said : "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord." -- Isaiah 55: 8.
Hebrews tells us without faith it is impossible to please the Lord. "But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." 11: 6
You actually can't be a believer without faith. If you are a believer then you know that when you go to seeking God in your life; you must be "Believing When Seeking."
